The island of Marinduque is a place where you can find that inner peace to reconnect yourself. The place is raw, steady and rejuvenating. Here, there are no malls and towering buildings. No loud noises of city traffic and no pollution at all. Sounds like a good place, yes?Marinduque is an island province in the Philippines best known for being the home of the Moriones Festival, one of the oldest religious festivals in the country celebrated during Holy Week. Everywhere you go in the province, you can spot references to the icons of the Moriones, men and women in costumes and masks wearing garb of biblical Roman soldiers.WHERE EXACTLY IS MARINDUQUE?
Marinduque is located in Southwestern Tagalog Region or MIMAROPA, formerly designated as Region IV-B. It lies between Tayabas Bay to the north and Sibuyan Sea to the south. It is west of the Bondoc Peninsula of Quezon province; east of Mindoro Island; and north of the island province of Romblon.We, BSTRM4A had a Marinduque tour last November 9 to 11 2018 to share it with you here’s our pictures and videos
For you to go in Maniwaya Island, you must ride a boat. But we experienced low tide on General Luna Port, that’s why we need to ride a small boat first, going to Big boat.

Our cabana room is only 20 steps from the sea. It is a perfect room for relaxing.
First destination we visit was the Ungab Rock Formation. This rock formation resembles a shape of an elephant.
Next is Palad Sandbar.The highlight of our visit to Maniwaya was the Palad Sandbar, a strip of white sand located several hundred meters north of Maniwaya’s northeastern beach.
The next day we visit the land area of Marinduque.
Buyabod Port, Sta Cruz Marinduque.
Sta Cruz Cathedral. Like all the other churches, this was also perched on top of a hill. But it was easier to reach because it was not the lone structure uphill. Most of the town was built on a hill so we didn’t really feel the uphill climb to reach the church unlike the others.
This is Marinduque’s oldest standing building – the century old Boac Cathedral. Boac Cathedral has served in several instances as the refuge of the people of Marinduque. People attribute many miracles here hence, this Cathedral is dedicated to “Mahal Na Birhen Ng Biglang Awa”
We had a lunch at Kusina sa Plaza.Kusina sa Plaza is probably one of the locals and tourists’ favorite. This local restaurant in Boac, Marinduque serve various menus from salads, burgers, noodles, desserts, pizzas and a lot more.
Gasan Church. To get to it, from the National Highway we had to climb up a steep road then a series of stairs. Once we reached the top, the view was rewarding. We got a glimpse of the Gasan beaches and the Tres Reyes Islands while a cool breeze relieved us of the heat from climbing up the steep staircase.
After that we go to Torrijos Freedom Park also known as Luneta Park in Torrijos.
Our last destination for that day was Poctoy White Beach.
The next day before leaving Wawie's Beach Resort we had a boodle fight lunch. I was the one who left on the table 😂
After that we go to Balanacan View Deck. A picturesque body of land and sea at the northwestern portion of the province, a natural harbor that prompted the spanish navy to repair and build galleons during the 17th century and was the site of air and naval battle during the World War II on November 1944.
And then, we rode a roro going to Quezon. And after that we took our dinner at DAGAT CUSINA GUBAT. We had a Bulalo and it was so good😊
Marinduque is such an amazing place and we believe that the Heart of the Philippines tagline is not just based to its island’s shape or location but because when you experience Marinduque, you will be captivated.
